Breastfeeding Support: Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline

Evidence-based assessment and interventions designed to assist health care providers who care for mothers and infants.

The Breastfeeding Support Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline outlines evidence-based assessment and intervention parameters designed to assist healthcare providers who care for breastfeeding mothers and their infants, women who are considering breastfeeding or those who are planning to breastfeed. It provides a source of consistent information about breastfeeding necessary to support and guide women during the preconception, prenatal and postpartum periods. Research-based information is integrated into the Guideline, addressing unique developmental and sociocultural factors that influence a woman’s decision to breastfeed.
